Jakarta International Djarum Super MILD Java Jazz Festival 2012

JAZZ, a music born for the amalgamation of various types of music from Africa, Europe, with a tinge of Latin, has become one of the most flexible genres to amalgamate with other genres, be it modern or traditional. In its journey, jazz has visited and even taken refuge in various locations all of the world.

In 2005, Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival was held for the first time. Jazz music began intermingling in the air, harnessing the love of its enthusiasts making them long for the next dates of the event. This festival, presently the largest jazz in the Southern hemisphere, immediately became the pride of Indonesia. The continuous success from one year to another has made it one of it the most talked about event, even by international musicians. In their opinion, (Jakarta International) Java Jazz Festival as a festival destination. International musicians are extremely proud to perform at a festival created by Indonesians. To raise the bar even more, some musicians even consider Jakarta as one of the most important cities for jazz.

In its 8th edition, the festival dubbed Jakarta International Djarum Super Mild Java Jazz Festival 2012, will be even more special. Renowned jazz figures such as Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny and Bobby McFerrin, some of the most awaited acts, are confirmed to perfom on the stages of Jakarta International Djarum Super Mild Java Jazz Festival 2012.

In addition to the three aforementioned artists, names such as Al Jarreau, David Sanborn and Phil Perry, are also musicians which Java Festival Production have successfully confirmed for the year. On the first full weekend of March 2012, these fabulous names will mesmerize Java Jazz Festival enthusiasts.

To make Jakarta International Djarum Super Mild Java Jazz Festival 2012, a festival due to attract more than 100,000 people, even more wondrous, Stevie Wonder will also be performing. Wonder is a legend for music itself. His musical prowess began at a tender age and managed to penetrate musical barriers. There’s no doubt that the music presented by Stevie Wonder will be magical.

Colorful Jazz Also not to be missed, Java Festival Production has also confirmed names such as Bobby Caldwell, Laura Fygi and Swing Out Sister, due to perform with the big band. After all, a show with a big band enhances the musical experiences.

Shows with romantic nature by Barry White Show & the Pleasure Unlimited Orchestra, D’Sound, Dave Koz, Depapepe and Chris Standring, will be an interesting variety alongside Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Frank McComb with his groovy funk, mainstream jazz by Alfredo Rodriguez Trio, Ron Carter due to perform with Juilliard Jazz Quartet, Manhattan Transfer (with Margaret Dorn standing in for Cheryl Bentyne who has taken ill) or Carl Allen with Rodney Whitaker Quartet, and the temptuous Latin tunes to be rolled out by Sheila E. & Escovedo Family and Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band.

Erykah Badu, a long awaited performance in Indonesia, will also be performing at Jakarta International Djarum Super Mild Java Jazz Festival 2012 as part of her tour.

Mayer Hawthorne & The County, Simon Grey “Live”, Soil & Pimp Session and Taylor McFerrin promise to give a different sort of vibe in the arena of Jakarta International Djarum Super Mild Java Jazz Festival 2012.
